Our last port was Cozumel, Mexico. Today was our big excursion day. We were checking an item off of Bob’s bucket list- Swimming with Dolphins!
We looked around and found a place only about a 10 minute cab ride from the port. It got good reviews and after finding out that Rachel could be with us the whole time in the water, she just couldn’t do the foot push and swim we decided to do it.
It was a blast, picture overload to follow. Our dolphins were Luke and Leia, a 7 year old brother and sister pair. First we got to “hold” the dolphins.
Next we got to shake hands with the dolphins and let them jump up and touch our hands.
Then came the KISS. We got to kiss the dolphin and have it kiss us.
The highlight of the excursion was the dolphin pull and foot push.
For the pull they have you float out and put your hands out to your sides( make a letter T with your body). The dolphins swim out and right up to you so that you just close your hands around their fins and they pull you in.
For the foot push, you basically do a dead man’s float and keep your foot flexed and knees locked. The dolphins swim out to you and their noses to your feet and begin pushing you. As you start to move you raise your hand above your head and you lift out of the water. It was pretty cool.
Everyone had lots of fun, and even Rachel who once we hit the water wasn’t really sure about it at all had fun.
