In April I had the chance to participate in Queen Creek's- American Cancer Society's Relay for Life as part of team RBug.
A good friend of mine, Marie, started the team last year when a good friend of hers Rashelle was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
There was a whole group of ladies who felt helpless. To show their love and support while Rashelle was going through treatment, they formed a Relay team to fight back and raise money for cancer awareness.
They had such a great time and felt so empowered that they did it again this year. This year they had enough to form 2 teams, one of which Rashelle was the captain of.
She also gave a speech at the opening ceremony, and helped start off the survivors lap.
So on April 23rd we walked from 6pm to 6am for Relay for Life.
I walked the 10-11pm shift with Jamie (who was 9 months pregnant). She went into labor later that night after she left and delivered a beautiful baby girl Saturday night.
I then got to walk again the 4-5am shift with Marie.
The best part of the evening was when they turn off all the lights in the stadium and light all the luminaries, in memory of all those who have lost their fight. It was amazing. It was really touching to read all of the personalized messages along the track.
I feel so lucky to have been apart of this great event.
Thank you to all who helped support me in my fundraising efforts.
I didn't bring my camera that night, and just got hold of the pictures the photographer that night took. There were so many pictures from that evening I only picked my favorites but there are a bunch.
