Today after 4+ months of being in pain and 8 weeks of physical therapy Brandon had knee surgery.
He got to the surgery center about 6:30 this morning. And the took him back about 7:30 for the surgery.
It took a little over an hour. When the doctor got in there he found that the cartilage under his kneecap was pretty shredded up. So he smoothed it out and removed some “loose bodies” as he called them of cartilage that were just floating around. He also shaved down the plica.

The top right on the bottom set of pictures shows the cartilage before he smoothed it out. The bottom left on that same group is him actually shaving it with the tool.
The doctor was happy with what he did and thinks that it will take care of his pain. He is to rest for today and then tomorrow start moving around with crutches for 2-5 days with more weight bearing on it everyday. Then after his follow up in 2 weeks will begin physical therapy again.

He is now resting and on lots of good pain meds. Tomorrow we start the walking and the fun stuff. Hopefully he will be back in school my Monday!!
