On Sunday August 12th our family lost an awesome lady- Betty Altop or Grandma to us. She leave behind quite a legacy. Here is her obituary from the local paper:
ALTOP, Betty Maxine
Nov. 11, 1929 - Aug. 12, 2012
Loving wife, mother and grandmother. A native of Utah, but lived in Sacramento for 76 years. A lifelong member of the LDS Church. Served in many church callings. Loved life and serving others.
Touched many lives in her life and was loved by everyone. She will be missed by her mate and husband of 65 years, Lester Altop, sister Vivian Blackmun, 4 children and spouses, 28 grandchildren and spouses, 64 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and many loving friends.
Services will be held Friday, Aug. 17, 2012 at 10 AM., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3001 Wissemann Dr., Sacramento.
She was in the hospital the last week and always had a whole crew with her almost constantly. She was such an amazing lady. She is going to be greatly missed by all of us.
I am so glad that we were able to spend some time with her this summer while we were there.
Bob was able to fly out and be with his family for the funeral. He was also able to give the family prayer before the funeral began.
All of Bob’s siblings were able to come in. It is so fun to see them all together.![]()

Grandpa’s brother Ray and Grandma’s sister Vivian were both also there. Bob hadn’t seen either of them in years. So that was cool.
