One thing that Bob said was all over are the street hawkers with their food carts. He never tried any of the food from these vendors. He was a little afraid of getting sick.
He didn’t fly out until Sunday morning, so on Saturday one of the guys they work with picked them up early and took them to Penang National Park. The hike about 2 1/2 miles in the rain through the rainforest to “turtle beach”. It wasn’t turtle season so there were no turtles. But it is where the turtles go to breed. Bob said it was really pretty but the forest was so dense and it rained almost the whole time.
Also that night was the Mid Autumn Festival. It is also know as the Mooncake Festival or the Lantern Festival. It is actually a Chinese celebration but a lot the country is Chinese. So they were able to take the cultural celebration right before they left.
He also bought moon cakes that he brought home for the kids to try. They all said, hey this is like Kai-Lan!!
