Arrow of Light

Ethan earned his Arrow of Light before school got out. But he was just awarded it tonight.

it was a really nice ceremony and the 11 year old leaders and the deacon quorum leaders were there as he did his bridge crossing to welcome him to Boy Scouts.

The lighting was really low, so pictures aren’t the best.

He has had great leaders all through scouts, but a special shout out to his webelos leaders. Sean Malloy and Josh Kunert. They rocked and got him through, even thought he was the only boy most of the time they didn’t slack off and worked really hard to get him the ranks and pins he needed.

Girls Day

While the big boys were in Utah, Ethan had an all day birthday party. So Rachel and I had a girls day!

She pretty much took control. We did lunch at Red Robin her favorite place. Then we came home to do crafts, she had a bunch of things i had been collecting and I was making wreaths for the front doors.

We took a break late afternoon to run some errands and to get her toes painted before we got Ethan.

It was a fun day for both of us, and as a bonus I got my wreaths done too. I love them.

Studio C/ Utah Trip

So my family is obsessed with the show Studio C on BYU TV. When they found out they were doing a lottery for chances to be in the audience they were over the moon. Even though the chances were so slim. Well they didn’t get the first 2 tapings, but they were drawn for the 3rd taping.

So off they went to Utah for the weekend. We had been planning a possible weekend in October to take Brandon back to do a campus tour and a football game, so we just moved those plans up and instead of football, now it was Studio C

Friday after they flew in they went on a tour of campus and spent some time also talking with the Media Arts Program coordinator who gave them so really good information on the Film and editing programs at BYU. He even told him if he gets in, as a sophomore when he applies to the Media Arts school to look him up and feel free to ask him any questions.

They also visited an old professor of Bob’s Carl Sorenson and a friend of ours who just moved there and will start teaching in the fall- Evan Bingham.

Then that night was the taping. They checked in that morning so they were the first(after the VIPs) to get in so they got great seats. Front row center. They got to even shake Matt’s hand. They said it was hilarious and they can’t wait for the season to start.

Saturday they spent the day in Salt Lake doing all the things they missed this summer when they were at EFY. They weren’t thrilled when I requested lots of pictures!

Ethan has Ms. Montoya this year. She was his student teacher last year and he really like her so he is excited. This is the first year I haven’t walked him out to the playground where he lines up so no extra photos.

Rachel has Mrs. Schmidt. She is the same teacher that all the boys had, we LOVE her.

She was ready to go, no tears, no hesitation, she ran right to the playground and didn’t even look back. I had to call her over to the fence(they don’t let parents past the gate) so I could take a few pictures before I left. She was kind of put out, she was ready to play and make friends.
