Alcatraz

Our trip to Alcatraz was really cool. The kids all loved the audio tour. I was a little worried it would be scary for Rachel but she loved it and listened very intently.

The highlight of the trip for most of the kids was seeing a former prisoner signing the book he wrote in the gift shop.

The highlight for me, was watching the fog roll across the island as we were leaving to head back to Pier 39.

After this we walked down to Pier 39 for dinner and shopping. It was a great day, but we were all exhausted at the end.

San Francisco

We spent today in San Francisco. it was a LONG day but tons of fun. We drove down that morning, and after a quick lunch out of the back of the car we were ready to hit the town.

We walked up Embarcadero tot he Cable Car stop. We stopped in a few stores then rode the cable car up to Union square. One cool thing- Sarah McLachlan was on our cable car. Sherrie totally recognized her, sorry to say I didn’t or I might have tried to snap a picture.

The plan was to get back on the cable cars and go back to Ghirardelli for a treat! well, the line to get on the cars was over an hour long. So we got a treat at the mall while Leslie saved the day and figured out the bus routes. We took the old F line back down to Pier 33 just in time for our Alcatraz tour.

Laser Tag

So we bought a Groupon for laser tag, arcade games and drinks. It was such a good deal, it was going to be a ton of fun out of the heat, and everyone was excited to do it. Kristen got one to and was bringing Drew and Carter. Perfect afternoon right? Well after consuming all our drinks they still hadn’t called us, se we went to investigate. They were licked out for the next 2 hours for summer camps!!! It was crazy they didn’t say a word when we checked in. We were so ticked. After some arguing we finally got them to give us passes to come back and extra arcade cards for each kid.

Well we tried again on Saturday and had a blast!! Uncle Jamie, Uncle Jeff, Hayley and Sydney were able to come too. Plus we had all those arcade cards too. They played a ton of games and all got to pick prizes.

Sacramento Institutions

Some things are just considered must- dos when in Sacramento. Leatherby’s is one of them!!! Sherrie and I decided to surprise the kids with lunch and ice cream, then an trip to Old Sac. We didn’t tell them where we were headed so they were pretty excited when we pulled up.Lunch was Yummy as always. You can’t go wrong with Leatherby’s.

Our trip to Old Sac wasn’t as successful. Grant started running a fever at lunch and wasn’t felling well. Plus the reason we went to ride the carriages….. well the horses weren’t running that day since it was to hot!!! We did wander through old town, stop in a few stores and got candy at the candy store. We also found the perfect shirt for Rachel, but it didn’t come in her size so we took a picture!
