Rachel’s silliness

Rachel is such a character. She keeps us on our toes daily.

After Brandon’s surgery he has been on crutches. But for some reason she can’t say crutches to save her life. She calls them “crunches”.

She also thinks she is so much bigger than she is. We were running late the other day and it was really cold out so we had to take the boys to school. She was just coming down with a cold and didn’t want her going out with wet hair so I quick put my hair towel on her. She thought she was hot stuff.

Since she has been fighting this cold she has been a little tired. After a busy morning she laid down on the couch with the I-pod and fell asleep playing it.

We have also been having “preschool” at home this month while her teacher recovered from some knee surgery. She calls it our pretend preschool. One day when it was here we made Snowmen and played with" “snow”. It was shaving cream.

Knee Surgery

Today after 4+ months of being in pain and 8 weeks of physical therapy Brandon had knee surgery.

He got to the surgery center about 6:30 this morning. And the took him back about 7:30 for the surgery.

It took a little over an hour. When the doctor got in there he found that the cartilage under his kneecap was pretty shredded up. So he smoothed it out and removed some “loose bodies” as he called them of cartilage that were just floating around. He also shaved down the plica.

The top right on the bottom set of pictures shows the cartilage before he smoothed it out. The bottom left on that same group is him actually shaving it with the tool.

The doctor was happy with what he did and thinks that it will take care of his pain. He is to rest for today and then tomorrow start moving around with crutches for 2-5 days with more weight bearing on it everyday. Then after his follow up in 2 weeks will begin physical therapy again.

He is now resting and on lots of good pain meds. Tomorrow we start the walking and the fun stuff. Hopefully he will be back in school my Monday!!

Happy Birthday Brandon

I can’t believe how fast time goes by. It seems like we just brought Brandon home from the hospital and now he is 16!!!!!

We spread the party of 2 days. On Sunday we had our family dinner at home where he picked orange chicken. I love that since it is from Trader Joes and all I have to do it heat it up!!

We also did cake that night. He wanted an ice cream cake this year.

Monday we went out for his birthday dinner he got to pick. Of course he picked Red Lobster. It was a yummy dinner followed by presents at home. He got some new headphones, a Wii U game, some shirts and a Beacon Audio wireless speakers. Soon to some hopefully his drivers license.
