New Car

So we finally did it. We bought a new car on Wednesday.

We upgraded our 2000 Odyssey for a new 2012 Odyssey.

It has all the bells and whistles and it is going to take forever to figure it all out.

We are now in the process of selling our old van. It has been a great car and some lucky family will hopefully get many more years and memories out of it.

Blog Catch Up

So I have really neglected this little blog recently.  Not because we haven’t done anything, but because we have had so much going on. So scroll back to the older posts as I will have them all updated by tomorrow. Then you can see some of the reason I haven’t had time to blog.

Swimming Lessons

This year Rachel and Ethan have had the chance to do swimming lessons with Mary and Kairleigh  again. They are such great teachers and love the kids so much. I am always amazed how well they have some of these little ones swimming. Rachel loves going to lessons so much. She wakes up each morning asking when she can go. These were their classes the first session. We still have on more week to go.

Again I am having trouble with the video today so I will add it later.

Cub Scout Day Camp

eagle project 019

Ethan went to cub scout day camp this week with Cooper. This years theme was Old west, and cowboys. This was a “twilight” camp so they went from 2pm –10pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It was put on by the Grand Canyon Council.

He was so tired, he missed all of Brandon’s Eagle Project, but he had a blast.

He did archery, BB gun shooting, swimming, arts and crafts, panning for gold, made a neckerchief and slide, and made a flute out of PVC pipe.

On Wednesday Marie (Cooper’s mom) went and sent me some fun pictures. He wasn’t sure if he would have fun since he was going with Coopers troop and he didn’t know any of the other boys, but he LOVED it and made a ton of friends too. They all want him to go with their group again next year.

Eagle Project part 2

Tonight we had the youth from church meet us at the school to actually paint the walls. We had about 40 youth and about 10 leaders show up to help that night. We were able to get all the walls painted in about 2 hours. It took about another 2 hours for Bob,Brandon, and Evan Bingham who was so awesome to stay and help to do touch ups and clean up.

This was a huge project, bigger than any of us thought. But he got it done and did a great job. Our Bishop even complimented him on what a great job he did. He said it was one of the most organized projects he had ever helped with.

After they finished painting they all headed to the gym for some treats and to goof around for a few minutes.

Here are a few AFTER shots of some of the walls. They look pretty good.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped in any way, with time, money, or donations. This project could not have happened with out you. Even though it was a lot of work it was so great to see Brandon in a leadership role and taking ownership and making it happen. Good job Brandon.

Brandon’s Eagle Project Part 1

For Brandon’s Eagle project he agreed to paint 12 classroom wall, a workroom wall and 2 bathroom walls at Cortina School. The highlighted rooms are the ones he worked on.

This  part of the project had many parts. First he and Bob went and measured all the walls and took note of any holes that needed patching.

Next they patched the walls. Brandon had one of his teachers from church Jeddy Brimhall come teach him how to patch up the hole. This all took place at the end of May.

Finally we had 4 other families meet us at the school for dinner and a taping party. Each family took 2 rooms to tape off.  We couldn’t have done it without them.

After all that hard work we all enjoyed some root-beer floats.

I should also mention that Brandon spent many hours before this all happened filling out all the paperwork, going to businesses and talking to family and friend to get donations so that this could even happen. I have always heard what a crazy process the Eagle Project is, and now I understand it. It has consumed our lives for over a month now.
