Christmas Eve and Day

With Grandma and Grandpa Redfearn, and the Cahoon family here visiting this year, things were a bit different than the normal quiet days we usually have. It was SO fun to have family here to celebrate with us this year. Although we did miss Randy and Leslie who weren’t able to come.

On the night of the 23rd Grant and Emma got to spend the night, as a lead in to Christmas. We had a good old fashion movie night slumber party. We all stayed up late watching the movie. Some of us slept a little (Grandma! Smile)

Even though the kids stayed up late they were still up early. After breakfast they finished coloring the playhouse they started the day before.

Later that day the Cahoon’s left for their other Grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa left for the hotel they were staying in that night for a little quiet time and  we went out for lunch with just our little family at Barros pizza.

Later that night the festivities continued. Grandma and Grandpa came back and we made our gingerbread house, cookies for Santa, and reindeer food.

After throwing out the food for the reindeer, decorating cookies and eating a few too, it was time for everyone to head to bed. Grandma and Grandpa went back to their hotel. They didn’t want to be in Santa’s way when he was delivering presents so they stayed the night at a hotel.

Christmas morning we told the boys they couldn’t get up before 6:45, since we didn’t want a grouchy girl on our hands that day. So promptly at 6:49 they woke us up!!!

It only a took a minute for Rachel to wake up and be ready to see what Santa brought. She totally caught the spirit and idea of Christmas this year and it was so fun to watch her.

Here is a few shots before the kids came down.

All 4 kids scored this year. Once the opening started they wouldn’t hold still very long and I think my camera was on the wrong setting so we have a lot of blurry pictures.

Rachel opened about half of her presents while the boys played with their new DSi’s and it was perfect. Then the kids were all really patient and even took turns opening things so that we could all see.

The Cahoon’s joined us about lunch time and the round 2 of present opening began.Emma made Rachel and her matching scarves. The cousins exchanged gifts and Grandma and Grandpa opened their gifts then too.

The fun didn’t stop there. Aunt Cathy, Craig and Kristen came over later for dinner and visiting. It was so fun to enough people to have 2 tables, and to use my “good” dishes. We didn’t have enough room at the “grown-up” table so Cathy was the lucky one who got to sit with the kids.

The evening wound down with some football for the boys, dessert, and a game of Bingo (with prizes) for the kids.

It was a great Christmas and so much fun to share it with some of our family.
