Father and Son Campout

The Boys at the Tonto Natural Bridge

Their Camp Site

The creek near the camp site
Friday night the boys headed up near Pine for the Father and Son camp out. They had a lot of fun even though it was really cold that night. Before they came home they went to the Tonto Natural Bridge and did some hiking. The all make it home tired, dirty, and in one piece.

Girls Night

Friday night the boys went camping and us girls had the house to ourselves. Rachel still doesn't quite have the hang of the whole girls night, but we did have fun. We made some jewelery, watched some TV, and painted her toenails for the first time.

Curls

This post is for Grandma who wanted to see Rachel's curls. She doesn't have much hair, but the back has a definite curl in it. I hope that it stays curly as it continues to come in.

*These aren't the best pictures. Getting her to hold still is an almost impossible feat*

Chapter Books

Yesterday Ethan decided that he was going to finally read chapter books. I have asked him in the past, but he always said they were too hard.
Last night he picked up a Magic Tree House book. Before bed he read the first chapter. Then he took it to school and read at recess and during free choice time.
By the time he got home from school he was on chapter 7. He really wanted to finish it today so he had me read him the rest.
As soon as we finished he went and got another.
Since I LOVE to read, it makes me so HAPPY to have yet another child who has gotten the reading bug!!

Ice Ice Baby

Recently Rachel's new favorite treat is Ice. Let me clarify Sonic Ice. I bought a bag last week, and every time I fill get a drink of water and put ice in it, she wants some.
This morning I was tired of her putting her hand in my water, so I gave her a little cup of her very own. She walked over to the couch sat right down, and munched her ice while watching her shows.
Such a silly little girl.

OUCH

So I mentioned earlier how on Easter Brandon burned his hand. Below is what it looks like after 2 days. He didn't have any blistering that day, but Tuesday morning he started getting a few blisters.

He says that is doesn't hurt really anymore, but it doesn't look pretty. We are still covering it when he goes to school, I don't want to take any chances that he will get an infection.

That is not a popped blister, he scrapped it getting something out of his binder.

Birthday Fun

Zachary had a great birthday yesterday. He loved having the day be ALL about him. He took cupcakes to school to share with his class, got to pick where we went to dinner- Red Robin (although Burger King his favorite place was a close 2nd), open presents, talk to both Grandmas on the phone, and have an ice cream cake for dessert!

Happy Birthday Zachary

Happy Birthday Zachary!! It is hard to believe that you are 11 years old today!! You have always had such a sweet, quiet disposition. You always root for the underdog, and are a real peacemaker in our family. Thanks for being such a great brother, son and friend, we are lucky to have you in our family!! Hope you have a great day today.

Easter /Conference Sunday

We enjoyed a really nice quiet Easter/General Conference Sunday. We colored eggs on Saturday, between conference sessions. Yes, I know that Rachel is not helping us. If you know Rachel you will totally understand why we did it during her nap time. We love her, but not her messes.

Today started with Easter baskets, and egg hunts. We then made homemade doughnuts for breakfast, which is a Conference Sunday tradition.

We enjoyed watching conference and I think the kids even kind of listened.

The only down point of today was Brandon burned his hand. He was carrying a bowl of Top Ramen he made for lunch to the table and it sloshed out onto his hand, then he spilled the rest of the bowl. He burned the back of his fingers on his left hand, this thumb and the inside of a couple of the fingers too. This evening he is doing much better. We had some great burn gel, and some stuff called "2nd Skin" that has taken most of the heat and pain away. He is one tough cookie.

Choir Concert

Tonight Brandon had a Choir Concert for school. Last quarter he had choir as one of his electives. His teacher is also the choir teacher at the high school, and they had a combined concert at the Higley Center for the Performing Arts.
They did a great job. His class sang 2 songs, and then all the choirs combined(7th,8th and all High School Choirs) sang one together.
