This morning we were running a little behind getting ready for church. Brandon was practicing the piano and so I just laid Rachel down on the floor to listen. She was so happy just listening to the music and it was so nice to bet ready alone!!! Brandon is turning into a really good babysitter. I love being able to leave Rachel with him occasionally and know that he will take good care of her.
Saturday Ethan was such a good helper he juiced a whole 5 gallon bucket of lemons all by himself. We ended up with about 2 1/2 quarts of juice to freeze for this winter when we get the craving for lemonade.
Today the boys and I spent the morning picking the fruit off of our citrus trees. We have both a lemon and an orange tree. After many scratches, we are pretty pleased with our work. As you can see one did considerable better than the other this year. Tomorrow I put them to work juicing some of the lemons to put in the freezer so that we can enjoy lemonade all year long. (We actually had a few more oranges that have already been eaten, but we have a bum tree that produces lots of oranges that never turn orange or get juice.)
Tonight for dinner we got into the St.Patrick's Day spirit. We had green chili enchiladas(with green filling too), green jello, green pudding, green milk, zucchini, and kiwi. With green cupcakes for dessert. I think I went through almost a whole bottle of food coloring.
Rachel was so cute today that we just had to add a picture of her too :)
Rachel is now 4 months old. Times sure does fly. Today she had her 4 month check-up. These were her stats: Weight: 15 lb. 5 oz. Height: 26 inches She is in the 75% for her weight and the 95% for her height.
This past week she has learned to roll from her front to her back, she can go the other way but doesn't really enjoy being on her tummy so she doesn't do it very often. She also discovered her toes!! She loves to lay on the floor and grab at them. She is a great sleeper. She sleeps about 9 hours at night and takes 2 good naps a day. She loves to smile and people watch. We are so lucky she is part of our family. I wish she could stay this age forever!
We had a blast at Disneyland last week. We met up with my sister and her family. We went for 3 days. It was so fun.
The weather was so nice and the crowds were great the first 2 days. The last day was a little crowded but we had already done everything a few times so it was OK. The kids were all so good.I was a little nervous taking Rachel not knowing how she would do. She was wonderful! She was happy the whole time. She loved the rides, the parades, the shows, and the crowds. She is a great people watcher.
It is so fun to do things like this as the kids get older. Brandon and Zachary were able to take the little kids on some of the rides and the adults got a little rest.
Brandon's favorite rides were Space Mountain, and California Screaming. Zachary's favorite rides were Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Star Tours. Ethan's favorites were Star Tours, Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain.
We are now having Magic Kingdom withdrawal. Now it is back to the real world of dishes, laundry, and housework.
Enjoy the slide show of some of the highlights of our trip.
Today was our ward's pinewood derby. Zachary's car was the Batmobile. He and Bob spent many hours out in the garage working on it. He had a lot of fun. At the end of the races he was tied for fastest Bear, but in the run-off came in second! This year Bob also built a car. It was a Hostess Twinkie. It was a filler car so that all the races had all 3 lanes filled. He didn't win a single race, maybe next year! Some of the other leaders had some pretty fast cars. Something to aim for next time. Below is a video clip of one of the races where he placed 1st. Also a slide show of the whole process.
